The first long run of many

By Hilary - Posted on 14 June 2009

Today I was planning to split my long run into two parts. Half in the morning and half in the evening with a healthy four hour + break in between. That didn’t happen.

My BH and I awoke at 7am and the day ran away from us – with grocery shopping, laundry, and all the errands that somehow end up being saved up for Sunday.

By 3pm, after a 30-minute power nap, I slapped on some SPF and we threw my BH’s bike in the car (the car rack was just taken out of storage and should be assembled shortly) and headed off to the Busse Woods Forest Preserve.

After my run I chugged some chocolate milk, along with one ibuprofen for good measure, and crashed for the rest of the night.

I’ve also decided to not log my miles using The New York Times application. The ‘Notes’ section does not save my cross-training information on designated Rest days. And I’m not all that interested in keeping track of the total number of minutes I’ve spent running since Day 1. And often, when I attempt to record information, it does not save. Independent of whether I’m using a Mac or a PC.

I am resolved, for now, to following the McMillan Running Race Ready running program, but I’ll do some experimenting with other ways to track my training. I'll let you know how that goes.

Miles ran = 7
Miles walked = 3
